7:09 pm - The Pillsbury Doughboy
Dear friends,
It is with the saddest heart that I pass on the following. Please join
me in remembering a great icon.

The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and
complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.

Doughboy was buried in a lightly-greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities
turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry
Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and
Cap'n Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours as long- time
friend, Aunt Jemima, delivered the eulogy, describing Doughboy as a man
who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show
business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not
considered a very "smart" cookie, wasting much of his dough on
half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, he -- even
still, as a crusty old man -- was considered a roll model for millions.
Toward the end, it was thought he would rise again, but alas, he was no

Doughboy is survived by his wife, Play Dough; two children, John Dough
and Jane Dough; plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by
his elderly father, Pop Tart.

The funeral was held at 3:50 for about twenty minutes.

8:27 pm - Cyber Cleaning!
I don't know why but I've been on a mission for a few weeks, taking last week off for Irish Fest. It all started when my iPod died. And it didn't just die, it died a slow painful death. No one will fix it because its so old and it'll cost more to repair than to just buy another. So I decided then and there, I'd solve my problem of not having a laptop for the studio. I've had several people visit my studio who wanted to see my website, look at work that is only possible to see installed properly in photos, and various other things. So I decided when the next semester starts, I'll be getting an iPad. So I got all excited about watching movies. Ok, watching Ab Fab and Dr. Who while working in the studio. Unfortunately itunes only uses one type of file that wasn't what all my movies were in. I downloaded a program to rewrite the files and plopped them into itunes. So my movie collection looks great! But my music was all mislabeled, and without album art. I'm still not fully done doing all of that bullshit, but I've put a serious dent into it.

After all of this hullabaloo, I figured I should go through my computer files, pictures and other crap. I've now put all my pictures all labeled and categorized into iphoto! I'm in love! I can now see all my images as big pictures right there in one scroll down and it's so much easier for me to find my shit!

The final phase was this morning. Before I left for Utica a week ago, I deleted my hotmail account to rid my life from all the spam, junk mail bullshit plaguing my life. This morning I combined my gmail account with my email for school into the mac Mail program! I've never been able to do this crazy computer crap before. So praise for the glorious How To.com!

I finally feel like I've joined the 21'st century. Unfortunately the things I get all excited about are very similar to reactions of 40+ year old's in dealing with computers. I think I can still say I'm a bit of a Luddite, but as much as one can in this day and age. Needless to say I won't be getting rid of my typewriter anytime soon. The other thing is, all the things on my compy that I can choose how it looks is very steampunky. My wallpaper is black brocade for fuck sake.

The other thing is, after all of this I felt like shit after watching Frontline: Digital Nation. It's absolutely terrifying! I didn't realize that most college and high school teachers cannot assign a book over 200 pages because their kids can't read them! Or that they write in paragraphs not full essays. But I digress. It's worth a watch and think about yourself when you do.

I'd write more. But its too damn hot. I'm about five seconds away from finishing the day inside the fridge. And why the hell do I always choose the hottest months or the middle of winter to pack and move to new apartments? The puss cats look like they're dying.

By the way, I've been trying for 3 weeks now to grow a bonsai. There's no peekage yet, I'm getting anxious and that's not very zen.

12:26 am - grr argh
So one of my classes is an intro to grad studies course, and we have to do all this stupid shit like we're in high school. For one we're required to write a 1000 word blog every week about what we're doing. Really? Social networking sites do not belong in the college classroom thank you. Anyway, we have to use wordpress because its "easy and user friendly". BULL PUCKY! I spent 2 hours figuring out how to post a damn picture (required). And they have no help button, damn bastards. Why couldn't we just use LJ?

5:07 pm - It's that time of year again...
Usually round this time in August I start getting a little itch. That itch... what to do for Halloween this year? While searching for ideas I came across some which are surely my favorites:

p.s. I'd like for this year to actually be able to move around and do things. Past outfits, Edward Sissorhands - no use of hands and no smoking/drinking. Jareth David Bowie - a package bulge that kept shifting and itchy wig. Klaus Nomi - my favorite of all, but its really hard walking around as an equilateral triangle.

2:04 pm - He's no Sotomayor
He's Joseph Pizarchik, President Obama's latest nominee, picked to lead the Office of Surface Mining -- the government agency in charge of mountaintop removal mining and coal ash storage.

Guess what? He's a big fan of unsafe coal ash disposal, and doesn't quite know where he stands on mountaintop removal mining -- despite bragging on his resume that he's been in the mining field for seventeen years.

Very soon, Mr. Pizarchik's nomination will head to the Senate for confirmation -- and your senators need to hear from you so that we can stop his appointment:

There are many, many qualified people who could fill this slot. Serious people who would do their best to stop mountaintop removal mining, and the practice of keeping mining waste near our waterways.

And that's who we need in the position -- not someone claiming to be a mining expert while putting off serious questions about the most destructive form of mining in use.

Take a minute right now, and raise these concerns to your senators -- your e-mail will make a huge impact on this issue:

And please, when you're done, forward this along to your friends and family.

Maybe its just me but I feel if you knowingly lick yourself and ingest a fur ball the size of a golf ball, then you should have the decency of at least hawking it up in the toilet. I'll flush it on account you don't have thumbs...

4:39 pm - I am up to my ears in debt...
I really hate calling home asking for money but it seems that's all I've been doing lately. I'm working side jobs painting houses and working at the bar and I'm still ending up in the hole. As of right now I have exactly $192 to my name. My rent is due, but I'm trying to get my last month here waived because I've done a shit load of work to make this hell hole a habitable place, and they're fighting me on it. Then on the other side is Sallie-fucking-Mae who keep grabbing hundreds of bucks from me whenever they can. I've given them $800 as of the end of June and they still sent me to the collections agency saying I still owe $3,000. And whatever I had leftover went to pay my security deposit in Madison. I'm siting home with all the lights off and dreading when the energy and internet bills arrive.

I'd start selling blood but taking half a pint would kill me, Working the corner would kill me faster, I don't even have enough money to buy some aspirin to crush and sell to dim witted Utica College students as coke...

This town is going to be the death of me before I even get the chance to run the fuck screaming out!

3:00 pm - How did I become the referee in life?
So TJ's little going away party was last night at his house. Unfortunately the boy decided it would be a great idea to down an entire bottle of Jim Beam from 6:30-11:45. Yes I timed him. But this is not the bad part! The only people who showed up were my friends Sam, Robbie, Jen, and TJ's friend Brad. THAT'S IT! (Notwithstanding those who had good reasons they couldn't make it, or were on their way when I threw his ass in bed.) All his other friends opted to not go as they were 5 min away at another party down the street. It turns out the reason being they all are arguing over who's going to be the bigger asshole.

I have decided I'm not getting involved. I feel his little 22 year old ass needs to learn to grow up and realize he can't act like a damn teenager. I'm having second thoughts about moving in with him. And as I said last night to Heather and Molly, it's not my fault my friends being more mature and intelligent treat him better than his own childish comrades.

I have a feeling before I can take a step back from the situation, I need to be a quick mediator between the two factions and let them duke it out.

7:54 pm - YA Hoo!
Today was a very good day indeed. While eating lunch (pumpernickel sandwich with lettuce, tomato, veganaise, vegan turkey/ham or hamkey, and a nice cup of west african peanut soup... Maggie I still miss yours.) I got a call from the curator of the Munson Museum.

Well I like ma sammiches, so I didn't answer. The message just wanted me to call her back, so I'd decided to do it tomorrow. BUT! When I got home I checked my email, and I had a message from the same person.

As it turns out, I... well let me just paste in her email--->

Dear Kyle,

I am so pleased to inform you in this informal way that juror Susan Stoops has selected your work for the 62nd Central New York Artists Exhibition. Whoo hoo!

I wanted to verify your contact information, for I don't know if you are still in Utica, when you plan to move, and if you know your new address.

Thank you and best regards,

Mary E. Murray
Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art
Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute

YEAH BABY!! The only bad thing is the show goes up in Feb, so I'll have to either mail in the piece or come back to install it.

8:48 pm - Quite a dilemma...
So Monday I heard from the first grad school! Drum roll please.... SAN FRANCISCO! I have a phone interview with them at noon this Thursday. I promise to keep you all posted.

Now for my dilemma. Friday I came down with that dreaded peanut salmonella flu. Not quite sure where I got it, could have been from the veggie spring roll with peanut sauce I had at Pho Mekong Noodle house last Tuesday, or the cup of West African Peanut soup from the Tram last Monday. Either one, it doesn't matter. As it is right now, I'm fucking hungry and I REALLY want a pb&j, so I find myself staring at my P-Chopper chunky spread jar in severe trepidation. I think I'd eaten it way before I got sick and was fine, or maybe just got lucky. Normally I wouldn't care, but there's the interview on Thursday. Perhaps I just munch on a strawberry jelly sandwich and a glass of sangria. Yea, that sounds good.
